Klaus Perls

Here is an article from the New York Times about recently deceased art dealer Klaus Perls.

Klaus Perls was probably one, if not the most influential art dealers of our time.  His contribution to the art world is astounding and one could only hope to lead as full a life as he did.

This is a great article about a great man that I think you'll truely enjoy reading.

We are limiting sponsorship to 11 companies. There are various packages with limited availability. Visit our sponsors page now by clicking here.

Iao PROJECTS invited to its first art fair!

Iao PROJECTS has been invited to its first art fair located in Chelsea, New York at the Anna Kustera Gallery. The conceptual project/art fair is named "The World's Smallest Art Fair" and information regarding it can be found at http://www.annakustera.com/2008/06/the_worlds_smallest_art_fair.html where the PROJECTS will be showcasing various pieces measuring 12" x 12" or less from its roster of artists.

The art fair will be going on for 3 weeks from July 10-August 1, 2008 at the location 520 West 21st Street. Anna Kustera is one of the most cutting edge galleries located there and Iao PROJECTS is happy to present some of its most experimental work for the world to see.

The World's Smallest Art Fair was an idea inspired by Maurizio Cattelan's Wrong Gallery. More information about this original concept can be found at: http://arts.guardian.co.uk/features/story/0,,1671867,00.html

Ironically, the Iao PROJECTS is also a conceptual project involving an office space with only 108 square feet. So the funny thing is when a conceptual art project gets invited to participate within another conceptual project? Just like Russian dolls...

The submitted pieces for this art fair can be found at: http://www.yessy.com/iaoprojects/smallfair.html

Custom Designed Controversy

Just Another Rich Kid is an incredible designer. You ought to check out his website but also his show at Anna Kustera Gallery happening right now. http://www.annakustera.com/2007/05/the_black_market.html

Certainly anyone who gets the ire of the McDonalds franchise is a major plus in my book...

Whitney Biennial 2008

For all of those who love contemporary art, the Whitney Biennial has proven to be an awesome way for the general public to get exposed to the hottest young and even older emerging artists across the nation.

Everyone ought to know who Ryan Trecartin is. But the Biennial brought this dude from the world of YouTube and MySpace into prominent gallery representation through Elizabeth Dee Gallery. This certainly is the way that the postmodern world must play.

Social Network for Artists!

I finally found a great space online for artists wanting to display their art and have a place that is condusive to networking. It's www.humblevoice.com, a place that is along the same vein as zaadz.com, myspace.com, facebook.com, and the like. So, whether you're a poet, singer, songwriter, novelist, painter, drawer, digital media artist, film maker, ceramisist, sculptor or anything creative, this is a great venue that's definately worth checking out.

Cheers,

Shadna

Podcast from The Met...

The Met has released another fascinating podcast that I'd like to share with you. It's a converstation between a scientist, a curator, and an archealogist. They discuss rescent scientific discoveries regarding the funeral stele (tombstone) on the right. This gives us a great insight into ancient culture, anthropology and art history that is illuminating to all.

We always enjoy the podcasts The Met creates and we look forward to sharing this one with you as well. Enjoy!

GETTING CREATIVE

Iao Gallery webpages have been updated, created & renovated! Come in for a visit to view new sections and new designs as we pursue a new direction for Iao Gallery, LLC.

First, I changed the Iao Gallery Fine Art website. Having recieved emails complaining about the resolution size of the site I've resized everything compatible for resolutions of 800 pixils wide. And, in the spirt of new beginnings with our recent move, I decided to update the look of the site as well. I hope you enjoy!

Second, we've created the Iao International Art Fair 2008! An on-line art fair (an industry first) that will bring together the art collectors, artists, galleries and art lovers from across the globe using the internet as a base. Come explore this new venture and be sure to check back often for updates and additions!

Last but not least, we are creating a page for IAO PROJECTS (coming soon). This part of Iao Gallery, LLC is a way to bring us to the edge of contemporary art movements. Check back here for release updates.

So, what are you waiting for? Go and check out the new updates at www.iao-gallery.com!

Cheers,

Shadna
